In recent years, Troyes in the Aube en Champagne region between Reims and Dijon has developed into a haven for cheap factory outlet shopping in France. Several outlet malls are scattered through the outskirts of Troyes and a few discount, factory outlet shops are in the old town center of Troyes itself. However, it is for the large McArthur Glen Outlet Mall with its factory shops that travelers turn off the highway to save hugely on discounted French, European, and internationally famous brand name clothes.

The McArthur Glen Outlet Mall in Troyes is similar to many factory shop outlet malls in the United States of America and the United Kingdom. Savings, ranging from 30 to 70 percent off retail prices, are available on mostly overstocked, new items. Shops soiled, or factory reject items are the exception here and clearly marked.
Over 200 brands are on sale at McArthur Glen Outlet Mall in well over a hundred different shops. Almost all shops sell clothes although a few stores also have discounts on household items while Lindt (chocolates) and Terre de Bulles (champagne) are the only two shops offering discounts on edibles. A few further stores – mostly for household and décor items – are in McArthur Glen 2, behind the McDonalds.
Several restaurants, including a McDonalds, are located at the mall. In contrast to many other outlet malls, there is no real food court at McArthur Glen and excellent sit-down, multiple-course meals are also served in addition to more typical fast food outlets.

Discounted upscale accessories are available from Geox, Kipling, Lancel, Samsonite, Swarovski, and Swatch.
Like seemingly every other factory outlet mall in the world, McArthur Glen in Troyes also sports Nike and Reebok stores. European competitor Adidas is a noticeable absentee but European-style sportswear and shoes are available from Lacoste and Salomon. Further casual wear discount shops sell Columbia, Oakley, Quicksilver, and Vans items at steep discounts.
Plentiful parking at the outlet mall is American style – conveniently in the center of the mall, right in front of the individual shop entrances. Half-timbered structures at the entrance gates pay homage to old-town Troyes but it is the discounts on fashion, not the architecture, that draw visitors to McArthur Glen.
Shop opening hours are generally Monday to Saturday from 10 am to 7 pm. Occasional special openings on Sundays lead to huge crowds and are best avoided.
Getting to McArthur Glen Outlet Mall in Troyes
Driving is the easiest option when traveling to McArthur Glen Outlet Mall in the northeastern suburbs of Troyes. For GPS and satellite navigation devices not listing the mall, use Voie du Bois as street and 10150 Pont-Sainte-Marie as postal code and town.
Troyes is in the Aube en Champagne region of France, 120 km (80 mi) south of Reims and 181 km (113 mi) north of Dijon. From the Autoroute A26 (E17) take exit 22 when traveling from Reims or Metz and exit 23 when traveling from Dijon. Follow signs for Troyes / Pont Sainte Marie.
Troyes is only 175 km (110 mi) to the southeast of Paris on the Autoroute A5. However, similar savings are available in the outskirts of Paris at the chic La Vallée Village outlet mall near the Paris Disneyland Resort.
Bus 1, marked Pont Ste Marie (Magasins), frequently connects the train station in Troyes with the McArthur Glen Outlet Mall.
Troyes itself is also a very interesting town to visit with hotel prices often cheaper than in more famous Reims and Dijon. The historic old town of Troyes, shaped a bit like a champagne cork, is a joy to stroll in with amazing half-timbered buildings and Gothic churches with beautiful, historically important stained-glass windows.
