It’s an inexpensive place, with rooms from 79 Euro, all the more surprising considering the design pedigree. The cozy, funky communal areas include vintage sweets and crisps in cabinets, a cute take on the more traditional and, let’s face it, tacky vending machine.
The reception area includes several Macs for visitors’ use, and wandering into the bar area, there are bookshelves crammed with second hand books for perusal. Don’t forget to look up either, half the fun is on the ceiling.

Like most hotels in Paris, Mama Shelter lays on a good spread. The dishes are simple favourites but well prepared and on sunny summer days mama breaks out the barbeque to enjoy skewers with a good glass of wine.
